Create a PID Kernel Information Profile

In receipt we will show how you to create a PID Kernel Information Profile (KIP). The KIP is a special Data Type which allows you to define and validate elements in a PID Record. The goal is, to store a small subset of metadata in this record directly in the PID resolving service to allow fast, machine actionable decisions already on the PID-level. Thus, a machine can decide on further resolution of the referenced content or withdraw the PID if does not contain any interpretable information.

Ingredients

Work Steps

  1. Search data type registry for suitable KIP
  2. Describe/model envisioned KIP
    1. Call to mind basic KIP principles
    2. Decide on KIP contents
  3. Register new KIP in Data Type Registry

Before you start using this recipe it is recommended, to go through the recipe Create a Data Type as it explains basics for using the Data Type Registry, which is also the place where PID Kernel Information Profiles are created and managed.
